To build the physical infrastructure behind its search technology we seek
Data Center Team Manager
for the Budapest center.
You will be responsible for the management and motivation of a technical Data Center team ensuring efficient deployment of new servers, fixing broken servers, installing new networking infrastructure, etc.
There will be many complex processes and technical challenges in the Data Center that you will have to help your team solve. In addition to excellent team lead and management skills you will also need a solid background in Linux system administration (Red Hat, Slackware, Fedora, SUSE, Ubuntu, Debian, Gentoo), PC hardware, networking, and data centre or server room infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the full operations group and with Google's strategic planners to help design each new generation of our computing and network architecture
- Take full responsibility for prioritising the tasks presented to the group
- Be the contact point for the group in all corporate interactions
- Manage troubleshooting and incident reports
- Be the technical escalation point for the team
- Take responsibility for the implementation of projects for your team, which can involve programming, procurement, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, education and emergency response
- Third level degree qualification in IT / Engineering related field
- Solid hands-on technical experience with Linux systems administration
- Experience in leading / managing system administrators or data center technicians
- Solid understanding of PC hardware and Network architecture, maintenance, and repair
- Server Farm / Data Center infrastructure build-out experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Fluent in English (and Hungarian)
- Valid EU Work Permit
