The IT Operations Director leads the customer facing production operations and support department. Ensures that the services provided by the department meet with all required SLAs, cost and quality requirement defined by the management. The Operations Director also actively participates in the design and building of the operations organization including setting organization structure, policies, processes, and hiring activities.
Required education:
- College or University degree or similar
• 5 years + IT services development experience
• 5 years+ people management experience
• Excellent communication skills
• 5 years + experience of planning, implementing and maintaining Internet based technologies.
• Experience in setting and managing production operations budget
• Extensive knowledge of IT disciplines and methods
• Goal and result oriented personality
• High level of analytical and problem solving skills
• Expert knowledge of IT project management methods
• Expert knowledge of building and running Help Desk and Enterprise Data Center operations
Preferred skills and experiences:
• Formal project management certification
• Management degree
Job responsibilities:
• The IT Operations Director is responsible to plan, implement and direct the production operations support services organization’s policies, objectives, and initiatives.
• Ensures that the required SLA, quality and budget parameters are in-line with the values defined by the management for each production customer.
• Ensures continues improvement in service quality and customer satisfaction.
• Defines organizational and infrastructure strategies and approves final decisions on architecture, infrastructure and vendors.
• Plans and controls the production operations budget.
• Responsible for achieving quality, service, and financial performance.
• Evaluate and decisions on technology and vendors.
• Sets priorities for Project Coordinator or Project Manager. Is able to step in for Project Manager as required.
• Approves project plans and sets priorities for approved projects.
• Runs and delivers multiple projects and ensures that projects are successfully completed within the predefined time, cost and quality measures. Oversee execution of projects and activities directly or through subordinate staff.
• Tracks and reports progress towards the project stake-holders and towards the company’s management.
• Manage project budget end ensures best use of all resources.
• Implement the operations team strategic plans and objectives through effective leadership, recruiting, training, motivation and evaluation
• Serve as a resource for technical knowledge and performance improvement
• Develops and maintains internal and external relationships
• Evaluates projects and team members after the project completion
• Build IT operations production support team. Set hiring goals and work with HR to identify, interview, and select candidates.
• Work with customers, partners, and business development staff to provide needed technology solutions.
• Provide support for technology development in planning and bringing new systems and services to production operations.
