We are presently seeking a
Lead Software Developer
in our Budapest office.
In this highly visible role, you will work within our Corporate IT team to develop and support IT solutions for our Corporate functions including Sales, Finance, HR, Legal, Corporate Services and Marketing.
It is important that the candidate has recent hands on technical experience so that they can operate both as an individual technical contributor in addition to providing technical guidance and support to other developers.
The suitable candidate will need to be both technically experienced and exhibit a keen interest in the business of MSCI Barra.
Main Responsibilities:
• Helping to build a Corporate IT software development capability in Budapest and providing technology leadership to the resulting development team
• Liaising with internal business users / IT teams and external service providers for analysis of new requirements and design of appropriate solutions
• Contributing significantly to the development of secure and reliable application integration and data transfer mechanisms between Corporate IT applications and external providers
• Ensuring work is undertaken against timescales agreed with IT management and business heads. Regular accurate reporting of current workload and progress in a format to be agreed with Corporate IT management
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
Technical:
• 5+ years hands-on Java development experience (Java 5 a bonus)
• OO Development and Design Skills including UML and use of design patterns
• Practical experience with relational databases (Sybase a bonus)
• Experience of developing on Linux / Unix platform
• Experience of Open Source libraries such as Spring and Hibernate (a bonus)
• Web development using JSP, Servlets, 3-tier frameworks (Apache Tomcat a bonus)
• Experience of Web Services and use of ESB infrastructures (use of Cape Clear a bonus)
• Knowledge XML parsing / generation and a demonstrated focus on Data quality
• Exposure to security principles, secure FTP data transmission (a bonus)
• Experience of .NET / Windows based development (a bonus)
• BS or MS in Computer Science or Engineering degree from a highly accredited academic institution
Non-technical:
• Technical team leadership experience
• Experience in the Financial Services sector and HR, Finance functions
• Good inter-personal skills with ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Strong analytical and organisational skills.
• Team player and able to adapt well to change.
• Must be able to demonstrate intellectual capacity to learn very quickly and adapt to complex situations in a fast paced and demanding environment.
