MSCI Barra Technical Client Services

Technical Client Services are a client facing specialist support and consulting team within the IT business unit of MSCI Barra.  The team is responsible for pre-sales support and implementation and post-sales support across our entire product set; covering networked desktop, multi-tier enterprise and web based applications.   This involves on-boarding clients, training on the operational and technical aspects of our product suite and on-going support for our data feeds and products used by our clients.

The team operates as an escalation group from our front line Client Service teams and work with our clients on a daily basis.

Job Description:

  • Manage a team of four distributed through the Apac region responsible for the Technical Client service to our customers from our Sydney, Tokyo and Shanghai offices.
  • Liaising with local heads of sales and support to align the technical resources with the objectives and challenges of our coverage organization
  • Perform technical client support work involving pre-sales projects and system/data preparation, to on-site and remote installations of Equity, Fixed and Multi-Asset class portfolio construction and risk reporting systems.
  • Work closely with regional heads of Technical Client Service in Europe and the Americas to provide a single, global resource to our customers and internal colleagues
  • Prepare and deliver technical and operational training to clients and colleagues – this can be in the form of documentation, FAQ’s, webinars or other web based media.
Skills and Experience required:
  • Strong hands-on technical experience across multiple disciplines covering networking, development and application support
  • Experience with development/scripting languages VB, C#, C++/WSH, perl
  • Good practical, demonstrable knowledge of:
    • database technologies
    •  network technologies
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels - able to communicate technical solutions to non-technical users, either in writing, in person, or on the telephone
  • Strong aptitude to learn new technologies and practices quickly
  • Demonstrates initiative and is self-starting, motivated and committed
Qualifications:
  • Relevant degree (IT, Business, Finance)
  • Further professional qualification in Finance, either commenced CFA or FRM for example or Finance related modules and/or relevant experience
Desirable:
  • Experience supporting proprietary software to an external client base (or similar experience) i.e. technical consulting / field engineering.
