Sr. Java Application Engineers

This is a very exciting opportunity for you to be a key part of building, from the ground upwards, a globally distributed fixed income data infrastructure.

The task include:

The team is responsible for both the design, implementation and test of new systems
Logical database design, data modeling, ETL systems, and create user interfaces.
Acquire financial data from a variety of sources around the world and load to database Run out proprietary models and distribute both fundamental and derived data to our clients
This is a developer role with primary focus on new development and secondary focus on maintenance and retirement of legacy systems.
Daily activity is primarily Java development. Focusing on high data volume systems. We load financial data from many data vendors all over the world into our internal database. Until now the system was written in mainly scripting languages, without any design or architecture. We have hit a critical point where the operation has become too big to continue in this way, thus we are redesigning and building the system (nearly from the ground up) in Java. We would like to give our users a web based interface to the process.
Therefore we will be employing many of the following tools: JSP , Hibernate and iBatis, Struts framework.
Additionally our group does a fair amount of the data modeling in our Sybase database. Therefore any database experience is a huge plus.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Broad Java engineering skills covering a number of the following:
    • Java Core (JSE 1.5 preferred)
    • Servlets/JSP
    • JDBC
    • Frameworks: Spring, iBatis, Hibernate
  • Database and Query Design
  • Database schema design
  • SQL 92, Transact-SQL, or similar expertise
  • Sybase DB experience preferred
  • Comfortable working in a Linux/Unix Environment.
  • Apache/Tomcat
  • Scripting (cshell, korn shell or bash)
  • Working knowledge of Perl
  • Module development and OO preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in IT
  • Advantage: Web development experience, JavaScript, AJAX
